Abstract

This paper presents results from a study of several pipes in the Arkhangelsk Diamond Province (ADP) based on anomalies of the microseism field. The test pipes were the nonproductive S10 pipe in the Nenoksa field and the low-diamond Chidviya pipe in the Chidviya–Izhmozero field. We compared the results with those from a study of the G23 spurious magnetic anomaly and of the previously studied Lomonosov pipe of industrial diamond reserves in the Zolotitsa field. The results of this comparison showed that geological inhomogeneities and pipes can be well detected by microseism sounding. We have determined the reason that pipe bodies have different signatures (zones of high velocity or low velocity). Differences in structure have been recognized from which to classify kimberlite bodies.
