Abstract

The invertase activity of yeast cells was measured after irradiation with low voltage electrons of several energies. The activity-electron range function so obtained was compared with theoretical functions based on an ellipsoidal shell model for the enzyme in the cell. The invertase zone was radially bounded with the outer bound at about 500 A. depth and the inner bound at a depth not greater than 1000 A.
