Abstract

A new method for localization of oscillations and their suppression is proposed. It is shown that the cause of the oscillations in Lax–Wendroff scheme is an incorrect calculation of the fluxes at cell boundaries. Correcting these errors by using the exact solution of the Riemann problem can eliminate the oscillations. As an example 1-D hybrid non-oscillatory second order accuracy scheme is proposed on the basis of Lax–Wendroff and Godunov schemes.
