Abstract

ABSTRACT Biological control (BC) is a cornerstone of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) which in turn is an essential element of sustainable agriculture. BC practitioners seek to use natural enemies to control populations of insect, weed, and pathogen pests. This paper describes the problem of agricultural pests and options for dealing with them. It details the science of BC and its practice within the context of IPM with selected examples. Then it reviews the literature of BC, noting important books, databases, and periodicals. Finally, worldwide centers of research and information are described and selected websites noted.
