Abstract

It is argued that the usual Bethe-Goldstone wavefunction should be normalized before being used to calculate the effect of two-body correlations on expectation values of two-body operators. This normalization is related to specific linked cluster diagrams and is shown to be necessary for ‘pair number’ conservation.
