Abstract

DC and microwave properties of YBCO microbridges formed across a shallow step in MgO substrates were studied. Shallow steps, 2–5 nm high, were Ar ion beam etched with an angle of incidence of 60° in an MgO substrate. A 200 nm thick YBCO film was grown by pulsed laser deposition. The linewidth of the self Josephson radiation was measured by a technique based on the change of the current-voltage characteristics due to phase-locking of the Josephson oscillation to a small external microwave signal.
