Abstract

Recently revised estimates for the photochemical loss rates of tropospheric OCS indicate that ocean hydrolysis may be the most important sink. A simple air→sea thin film transfer model, coupled with water hydrolysis indicates that the lifetime of tropospheric OCS with respect to this flux has a lower‐limit of 11 years, which yields a net lifetime for tropospheric OCS of 4‐7 years.
