Abstract
At the present stage in the development of Soviet ethnography, one of the major tasks facing ethnographers is study of the life of the working class. This question is of interest not only because of the distinctive problems it presents, but also because the working class has been and continues in our day to be the leading class in society and because it gives direction to the development of forms of national culture in general.
