Abstract

The presence of a spinal cord injury (SCI) can impose staggering costs on individuals over their lifetime. A life care plan has become a useful and accepted way of analyzing those costs for future planning purposes. This article describes the process of completing a life care plan and the various categories of need incurred by spinal cord-injured individuals to assist clinicians in understanding the construction of a life care plan and their role in completing one. Clinicians working with spinal cord-injured individuals can use this article to assist them in developing life care planning to augment their practice.
