Abstract

ABSTRACT This article provides an in-depth discussion of the project that converted Library of Congress serial holdings data for active serials and added the related ILS check-in records. The planning for the project is covered as well as the initial data load of serial records into LC's integrated library system. LC policies and decisions concerning serial holdings data are also addressed here. A discussion of various aspects of the creation of the ILS check-in records by the project is included. The article covers LC support of the project and discusses several other projects that were directly related to the serial holdings conversion project.
