Abstract

Knowledge and the use of antibiotics has a great role and important on the success of therapy so that there will be no negative effect such as antibiotics resistance. The use of antibiotics on community from time to times has increased significantly and there are some recipe found that is given without the known of the doctor. Whereas, antibiotics should be obtained under the doctor’s recipe. The purpose of this research is to determine the profile and the level of community knowledge about the use of antibiotics in Banyior Village, Sepulu District, Bangkalan Regency. This research is a cross sectional descriptive research. The measurement tools used is closed questionnaires. The data are being analyzed by using SPSS 18th version. The research has been done on 325 citizens in Banyior Village, Sepulu District, Bangkalan Regency since October 2021 until December 2022. The result is the most widely used antibiotics by respondents is Amoxicillin which has 47% percentage. Whereas the majority of the respondents got the antibiotics from drug store or shop with 45% percentage. The level of community knowledge shows good level of knowledge with 6.82%, average level of knowledge with 19.60%, and low level of knowledge with 73.57%. The most common antibiotic used by respondents in this study was Amoxicillin where the method of obtaining it was mostly from drug stores/warungs and the level of public knowledge about the use of antibiotics was found to be in the poor category.
