Abstract

This articledescribes the major developments in the Levant during the Persian Period. The most significant changes during this period were the adoption of new artistic styles from Greece and the merging of the Levant with the Mediterranean economy.The Levant was at the heart of religious and economic developments, and its material culture reflects both the traditions and the innovations of this period. These developments include the laying down of the foundations of science and philosophy, and the composition of authoritative religious texts,including the Bible.
