Abstract
In 2017, I decided to make a career change from having the honor serving the underserved Native American population to the honor of serving the great people of the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG). USCG Base Elizabeth City, NC, was my first assignment with the USCG. I was the sole pharmacist, soaking everything up like a sponge. There had been so many new things thrown at me that I had not experienced before. Within the first 3 months and still learning every aspect of the operations of a USCG pharmacy, the deadly Category 5 Hurricane Maria was about to devastate the Caribbean.
