Abstract

For the first time, the ultrastructure of the leaf surface of the species from the section Rapunculus L. (Fourr.) Boiss. of the genus Campanula L. in the flora of Ukraine was studied by SEM. Common characters of the leaf surface of the studied species (amphistomatic type of leaves; regularly spaced non immersed anomocytic stomata; well developed cuticle; pubescence, formed by long sickle or short aculeiform hairs; type and location of wax scabs and/or blades deposits; general type of surface structure) have been revealed. Some essential characters were established as diagnostic for sections (types of surface structure and trichomes), subsections (types of surface structure, pubescens, trichomes and wax crystals) or species (types of surface structure and pubescens pecularities).
