Abstract

The emergence of compound words is a key step in the development of Chinese vocabulary. In this process, the opposite compounds play a significant role in ancient Chinese and modern Chinese. However, one of the main challenges of this study is the lack of available data sets, and previous studies have been limited to qualitative methods. In this paper, we collect a large number of corpora for each period and use word embedding to study the law of semantic changes of opposite compounds in Chinese. Experimental results show that our method can reflect the change rules more directly.
