Abstract
Could researchers who engage in research fraud be legally liable for their acts of research fraud? What about the research institutions that employ such researchers or the predatory publishers who publish their research? This paper summarizes possible theories of legal civil liability in connection with quantitative and qualitative research fraud in academic publishing.
