Abstract

Lattice dynamical properties of ultra-thin rectangular silicon nanowires are presented here in full detail. These are calculated using the adiabatic bond charge model within a supercell approach. These results show striking differences when compared with the continuum model results for thick wires. It is also shown that such differences disappear as the width of the wire increases.
