Abstract

The author examines the parameters of the Latin American diaspora in modern Canada. Various aspects are investigated: quantitative and qualitative components, as well as the history of its formation. Difficulties are noted with the unification of terminology used when counting immigrants from Latin America and the Caribbean. Difficulties with the self-identification are also pointed out. Particular attention is paid to the assimilation of Hispanic immigrants from Latin America in the francophone province of Quebec and immigration from Mexico.
