Abstract

The vertical sounding data at chains of ionosphere stations are used to obtain relative variations of electron concentration in the F2 ionosphere region. Specific isolated traveling large-scale irregularities are distinguished in the diurnal succession of the f cF2 relative variations records. The temporal shifts of the irregularities at the station chains determine their motion velocity (of the order of speed of sound) and spatial scale (of order of 3000– 5000 km , the trajectory length being up to 10000 km ). The motion trajectories of large-scale isolated irregularities which had preceded the earthquakes are reconstructed.
