Abstract

ABSTRACTIn this paper, the characteristics of the community of large mammals in the Province of Burgos (Old Castile, Spain) are evaluated by means of a method of census based on the battues carried out by two parties of hunters specializing in big game. The exhaustive character of the battues guarantees reliable results (Table 1). The historic evolution of these populations is also studied (Fig. 1).On the other hand, considering predator‐prey relations, the community in question is clearly favourable to the survival of the wolf.
