Abstract

The author deals with the dialect situation in the Zadar region, discussing four dialects, two of which are Cakavian varieties (ikavian and ekavian), two Stokavian (ikavian and ijekavian Neo-Stokavian). Some other varieties are mentioned, especially those found in contemporary communication: the Zadar Venetian dialect, the Arbanasi dialect, the Croation Literary Language, Dalmatian regional koine, interdialects, etc. The appearance of parasitic changes in idioms in the Zadar region are scienti®cally interesting
