Abstract

This is a needed book. There have been few books published on the lacrimal system and none for several years. This one was published simultaneously in English and Spanish, an unusual format. Dr Milder wrote six of the 22 chapters and coauthored two others. Dr Weil (Buenos Aires) edited the Spanish edition and wrote five of the chapters. The remaining authors are Drs Murube-del-Castillo (Madrid), Werb (London), van Haeringen (Amsterdam), and Blackman, Demorest, Lemp, Linberg, Silver, and M. E. Smith (United States). As with any multiauthored book, some chapters are better than others, but most are very good, and they show less difference of opinion than might be expected. The book starts with a chapter on the history of dacryology (a word with which I was not familiar).
