Abstract
There is a broad consensus among biblical scholars that the of God is the most basic and central topic in the message of Jesus in the synoptic gospels. This article discusses the meaning of this concept in the Gospel of Thomas, where many of the sayings refer to tthe kingdomt. The central position of this term and theme is one of the many facts that give the Gospel of Thomas a closer relationship to the synoptic gospels than any other of the books from Nag Hammadi. In the Gospel of Thomas, however, we do not find the most common synoptic phrase kingdom of God. The chapter talks about scholarly questions regarding the Kingdom of God, the Kingdom as Coming in the future or as present; who will enter the Kingdom; the Kingdom as possession and treasure, to what can it be compared; and the Kingdom explained in parables.
