Abstract

One of most striking differences between Gospel of John and Synoptic Gospels is use of phrase of God. This chapter focuses on apodosis or second part of sayings: what does it mean to or to the of God? The solemn introduction, common topic of entering and similarity of condition: accepting like a child or being born again indicate a probable dependence of two logia, and most scholars see Johannine version as a development of Synoptic. The meaning of phrase enter in Synoptic Gospels can be illuminated by a look at its paradigmatic relations or at its synonyms and antonyms. In Gospel of John and eternal life has replaced kingdom of God as dominating expression for gift of salvation. Keywords: Gospel of John; of God; Synoptic Gospels
