Abstract

Subsequent to exciting v 3 by a CO 2 laser pulse, fluorescence has been detected from 2 v 3 of CH 3F trapped in rare gas matrices. 2 v 3 is activated by V-V energy transfer and deactivates at twice the rate of v 3 relaxation. A kinetic model is presented to interpret these observations.
