The kernel role of the Soma number in deriving de facto energy efficiencies and costs from casual ones

Abstract

Energy efficiencies and costs based on arbitrary enthalpy considerations can be transformed into thermodynamically de facto ones based on causal exergies. The dimensionless Soma number is demonstrated to be the key element in the transformation kernel. Efficiencies and costs based on enthalpies effectively presume that the Soma numbers of all enthalpies are equal and their factual accuracy depends on the validity of this presumption. Preliminary evidence suggests that the effect of these energy casualnesses is quite pandemic in practice.
