Abstract
Cross sections for K-vacancy and L-x-ray production by 1 GeV protons for elements ranging from Cu to U are measured and compared with calculations based on the plane-wave Born approximation. The analysis revealed the need to include the current - current interaction between the projectile and target electron and the spin-flip term.
