Abstract

Abstract This is the transcription of a speech given by playwright David Henry Hwang on the campus of Oklahoma Christian University on 6 October 2012 at the annual McBride Lecture for Faith and Literature. The McBride Center was established in 2004 to honor legacy faculty members Dr. Bailey and Joyce McBride. The mission of the Center is to build bridges between the academy and the community through public symposia and programs in literary studies, history, drama, comparative religion, and humanities training for teachers. These programs invite participants to analyze, discuss, and explore the human condition in the context of contemporary and ancient faith communities.
