The aim of the Jaccard-EFP Research Prize is the promotion of periodontal research in Europe. The prize was created with the funds from ARPA International and is entrusted to the University of Geneva. The prize is awarded once every 3 years at the meeting of the EFP. It is open to all members of the Periodontal Societies which are part of the European Federation of Periodontology. The research work must not have been previously published or presented in any meeting. The manuscripts should be prepared according to the “Instructions to Authors” of the Journal of Clinical Periodontology, as the 3 best entries will be published in this Journal. Manuscripts should be sent to the Secretary of the EFP (see address below). Deadline for manuscript submission: 1 October 1999. An International Panel will select, based on the submitted manuscripts, 3 nominees who will participate in the final competition. The nominees for the prize (first authors must present the paper) will be personally informed by the Secretary of the EFP at least 3 months prior to the date of EuroPerio. Accommodation, travel expenses and registration fee for the invited persons will be paid by the EFP. The finalists will present their (his/her) work in a 20-min oral presentation, followed by a 10-min discussion period. The winner will then be selected on the merits of the submitted manuscripts, as well as on the oral presentation and the subsequent discussion period. The winner will receive a monetary prize award of Sfr. 10,000.- together with a Certificate of Award.
