Abstract

We consider the zero temperature current-voltage characteristic of a small capacitance superconducting junction. The junction is shunted with an ohmic resistor and current biased (Fig.l). We concentrate on the case of small Josephson coupling energy Ej/Ec ≪ 1 (Ec = e 2 /2C where C is the junction capacitance), and neglect quasiparticle conductance.
