Abstract

We present archival low- and high-dispersion, as well as new SWP high-dispersion, IUE data of the VI sequence planetary nebula IC 2003 that has not been studied extensively in the UV. Contrary to earlier UV studies, IC 2003 shows a rich spectrum of stellar and nebular emission lines. Nearly 60 new emission line fluxes are presented for He II, C II, C II], C III, C III], N III], N IV], C IV, O III, O III], O IV], O V, O VI, O VII, O VIII, Si II, Si III], Si IV, [Ne IV], [Ne V], [Mg V], Al III, Fe II, and S VI. Electron densities from C III] and N III] diagnostics were determined as log Ne = 3.4 ± 0.1 and 3.3 ± 0.1, respectively, in good agreement with those from optical data. The presence of weak P Cygni profiles for O V λ1371 and for the C IV λ1549 doublet are discussed. Several Fe II Bowen fluorescence lines are detected in the UV spectrum. Emission lines of O VIII and O VII appear to be present but need confirmation.
