Abstract

The iterative penalty method for Stokes equations is an effective algorithm. In this paper, we discuss the bilinear-constant velocity–pressure element for the Stokes equations and present the error estimates for the iterative penalty method using this element. The key technique we use is the local checkerboard pattern. Numerical experiments are given which are consistent with our analysis.
