Abstract

The isothermal section of the phase diagram of the Dy–Mn–Ti ternary system at 773 K has been investigated mainly by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), differential thermal analysis (DTA) and optical microanalysis techniques. It consists of 11 single-phase regions, 19 two-phase regions and 9 three-phase regions. At 773 K, the maximum solid solubility of Ti in Mn, DyMn 12, Dy 6Mn 23 and DyMn 2 are about 8, 3, 3.5 and 3.5 at% Ti, respectively. The homogeneity range of Mn 2Ti extends from about 61–69 at% Mn. No ternary compounds were observed in this system.
