Abstract

Summary. Retinal, the aldehyde of vitamin A, has been isolated from the bovine corpus luteum and identified by ultra-violet and infra-red spectroscopy, thin layer chromatography, preparation of the 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone derivative and a colour test with rhodanine. The concentration of retinal was approximately 1·2 μg/g of retinal corpus luteum tissue.
