Abstract

The isolation of Leptospira interrogans belonging to serogroup ballum from the kidneys of a brown rat (Rattus norvegicus) is reported and emphasis is laid on the fundings of homologous antibodies in the sera of British farm animals. Literature relating to pathogenicity of serogroup ballum to domestic animals and man is quoted and the need for inclusion of this serogroup into the battery of antigens for the screening of animal and human sera is stressed
