Abstract

The isolation, growth characteristics and biochemical reactions of an organism of the Haemophilus group, isolated from calves affected with pneumonia, is described. The induction of pneumonia in a calf by nasal instillation of the Haemophilus in combination with a filterable agent from pnnumonic calf lung after serial passage in mice is discussed. It is suggested that the evidence points to-the presence of a virus aetiology in some outbreaks of calf pneumonia.
