The isoelectric point of pure and doped zirconia in relation to the preparation route

Abstract

The isoelectric points (i.e.p.) of pure ZrO 2 and ZrO 2 doped with 9 mol% Y 2O 3, precipitated from homogeneous aqueous solution and prepared by flame pyrolysis, were determined by measuring the electrophoretic mobilities in dependence on the temperature treatment of the powders. Differences in the i.e.p. are discussed in relation to impurities and the adsorption of specific anions.
