Abstract
The results of calculations in the framework of the shell model are presented which indicate that the direct electromagnetic forces do not explain the energy differences of the A = 6 isobaric triplet. As in the A = 14 triplet, the gap can be bridged by the inclusion of a small charge-dependence of the nuclear forces.
