Abstract

This study explored the integration of the iPad as a learning and teaching technology into the Foundations Program of the two Higher Colleges of Technology—the men and women’s colleges—in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates. It also investigated the use of the iPad by the Program’s teachers and students to construct and promote English language teaching and learning in the Program and examines the challenges faced in doing so. Additionally, it shedded light on the limitations of the iPad and other relevant issues and stresses the importance of conducting a pilot scheme and longitudinal studies before the introduction of a new educational technology. The data for the study were drawn from class observations, interviews, surveys, and written questions.
