Abstract

Objective To understand the iodine nutritive status of the pregnant women and wet nurses in two counties of Shan-Xi Zha-Shui and An-Kang.In order to provide the scientific evidences for the causes and interference of the mind mental retardative children in those areas.Methods Contents of iodine in urines and milk were measured by spectrophotometer.Contents of T3、T4、TSH in serum were tested by radioimmuoassay(RIA).Results Contents of urinary iodine were 235.7 μg/L in pregnant women and 214.3 μg/L in wet nurses respectively,but the rate of urinary iodine level lowed than that of the low limit in the national standard of urinary oidine (100 μg/L) were 1.6% in pregnant woman and 6.7% in wet nurse respectively.The T3 levels were 0.7 μg/L in pregnant woman and 0.6 μg/L in wet nurse and the rate of T3 levels lowed than the standard value (0.8 μg/L) were 67.2% in pregnant women and 69.4% in wet nurses respectively.The T4 levels were 95.6 μg/L in pregnant women and 63.0 μg/L in wet nurses respectively,the rate of lowed than the standard value (100 μg/L) was 58.3% in pregnant women and than the standard value (57.0 μg/L) was 40.3% in wet nurses respectively.The TSH levels in pregnant women and wet nurses were higher than that of the standard value (5.0 mU/L) and the rate of TSH increased were 25.0% in pregnant women and 23.8% in wet nurses respectively.Milk iodine content of mothers were 163.1 μg/L.Conclusions The iodine absorption in pregnant women and wet nurses were well at present period,but functive index of thyroid were not well.Those results were reverse from the value of urinary iodine,it indicated that iodine absorption and utilize were not well in human body of pregnant woment and wet nurese.
