Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of refining dressing change process to prevent peripheral venipuncture central venous catheter (PICC) catheter-related infection. Methods 114 cases of PICC patients were randomly divided into control group(56cases) and observation group(58 cases).Control group used the general dressing set and followed the routine dressing change process, while observation group used improved dressing set and refined the dressing change process.Observed catheter-related local infection and syrnptoms of patients in two groups. Results The catheter local infection incidence, average catheter time, and catheter pathogenic detection positive rate of two groups had statistically significant difference(P< 0.05),the rate of catheter-related blood stream infection (CRBSI) had no significant difference(P > 0.05).Conclusion Refining dressing change process, strengthening the maintenance and management of the PICC,can effectively prevent and control of the PICC catheter-related infections.
