Abstract

Population transfer in quantum systems has gained a great attention in recent years. In this area, Landau - Zener model has been studied widely due to its mathematical simplicity. In this paper linear and quadratic time dependent magnetic field is used to investigate the population transfer in a spin ½ three particle system. The three particle Hamiltonian is calculated and time dependent Schrodinger’s equation is solved numerically to obtain the transition probabilities. The results show that complete transition is observable for both linear and quadratic time dependent magnetic field. But it is noticeable that the quadratic magnetic field causes a faster transition.
