Abstract

In this paper, we describe a procedure for inversion of autoconvolution integrals arising in several surface scientific methods. The solution is obtained by rigorous application of cubical spline functions. The method offers excellent numerical stability. Error propagation is discussed, and deconvolution examples are given for a characteristic isochromat, a soft X-ray appearance potential and an Auger electron appearance potential measurement of the iron L III level.
