Abstract

An applicable method is presented for the inversion of elastic scattering phase shifts at fixed angular momentum. The method is based on the theory of Gel'fand and Levitan. We treat potentials with bound states and asymptotic Coulomb tails. A transformation of phases reduces the case of charged particles to the one of uncharged particles. We demonstrate the quality of this inversion method by calculating real heavy-ion potentials from their phase shifts.
