C. Abstract A method is developed to determine the intrinsic three-dimensional orientation of S0 galaxies with polar rings from their observed two-dimensional projection on the sky. The author generally finds two solutions for each configuration. The orientation of five polar-ring candidates are determined, with the result that A0136-0801 has one solution compatible with an angle between the two components of 90°, but NGC 2685, NGC 4650A, UGC 7576, and II Zw 73 have no orthogonal solutions. If the polar rings are stable configurations, this nonorthogonality indicates that the S0 disks cannot be aligning the rings. This suggests that the nonluminous halos may be responsible. If the polar rings are unstable, the nonorthogonality will result in differential precession, and the eventual destruction of the rings. However, most polar-ring galaxies show no clear evidence of differential precession.
