Abstract

It is shown that a peak in a transient current following a step voltage application generally does not represent the carrier transit time in some dielectrics. Different mechanisms leading to almost similar transient currents are discussed. It is shown that current transient peaks can have different significance depending on the mechanisms of charge generation, transport and recombination.
