Abstract

Abstract This chapter concerns the triangular relationship of the Union, its member states, and diplomatic and consular law and the three sets of rules governing their regulatory and executive actions: EU law, public international law (PIL), and the national law of member states. It starts with a study on coexisting norms that examines how the Court of Justice of the EU (CJEU) has addressed diplomatic and consular law in the EU legal order. A following section tests how rights of legation can coexist in the international legal order and proposes a model of EU diplomacy, with both parallel and interactive features.
