Abstract

Despite the dominance of the structural approach in social network research, recent decades have witnessed an increasing emphasis on bringing individual psychology back into network analysis. The integration of network and psychological perspectives notwithstanding, numerous network and psychological phenomena are underexplored. This symposium provides an opportunity to showcase recent research endeavors that integrate social networks and social psychology. Using a variety of research methods, our papers address domains including multiplex ties and trust, lay beliefs and dormant tie utilization, brokerage and personality change, and motivation and network structures.
