Abstract

Periodically, the International Commission on Microbiological Specifications for Foods (ICMSF) has reported upon its activities. This report will describe briefly why the Commission was formed, how it functions, its past and current activities, and indicate its future direction. Underlying questions are whether the Commission has been effective in fulfilling its objectives and whether its activities are still relevant after 32 years.
