Abstract
The installation of public higher education in the interior of the State of Amazonas is recent or, if you like, late. The result of this state policy has its cultural and social as well as economic and political consequences. The southern region of Amazonas, the locus from which we make this reflection, comprises a vast territory with needs for qualified service in various areas. Higher education, at the stricto sensu postgraduate level, is yet another very important tool to provide opportunities and qualify professionals, especially those who work in basic education. The Postgraduate Program in Science and Humanities Teaching (PPGECH) at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), object of this reflection, is the only PPG in the interior of the State of Amazonas directed towards the qualification of professionals working in education. Thus, this reflection seeks to highlight the elements that involve the history of PPGECH, the importance of interiorization, since all courses were located in the capital Manaus, the impacts on the teaching area, from a cultural, economic and social perspective, as well as international relations, with the presence of students from other countries.

A algumas décadas a “Amazônia” é um conteúdo que está quase cotidianamente nos noticiários, nas discussões internacionais e nas pesquisas acadêmicas. No próximo item deste estudo passaremos a enfocar nos impactos da interiorização a partir das ações desenvolvidas pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ensino de Ciências e Humanidades como uma ferramenta de formação e qualificação de profissionais que já atuam ou irão atuar como educadores e pesquisadores visando discutir e diminuir o distanciamento no que tange à infraestrutura, fomento à pesquisa e capital social a partir da região Sul do Amazonas. Mesmo com dificuldades de infraestrutura, alguma limitação de internet e energia elétrica, esse centro de produção científica que está instalado no Instituto de Educação, Agricultura e Ambiente da Universidade Federal do Amazonas tem implantado políticas afirmativas através da formação, bolsas de pesquisa e qualificação em uma das áreas mais importantes de nosso país: o ensino.
